This article assumes you have at least basic knowledge of Linux, know how to use the shell, and most importantly, you host your site on your own VPS. The installation is quite simple and assumes you are running in the root account, if not you may need to add ‘
sudo‘ to the commands to get root privileges. I will show you through the step-by-step installation of IntelliJ IDEA JetBrains on CentOS 8.

Install IntelliJ IDEA on CentOS 8
Step 1. First, let’s start by ensuring your system is up-to-date and install all required dependencies.
sudo dnf install epel-release sudo dnf update
Step 2. Installing the IntelliJ IDEA on CentOS 8.
- Install IntelliJ IDEA from the official source:
Now we download IntelliJ IDEA IDE using the official IntelliJ IDEA IDE download page:
wget https://download-cf.jetbrains.com/idea/ideaIU-2020.3.tar.gz tar -xvf ideaIU-2020.3.tar.gz cd ideaIU-2020.3
Next, run IntelliJ IDEA IDE like normal programs you should create a symbolic link using the following command:
sudo ln -s ./ideaIU-2020.3/bin/idea.sh /usr/bin/idea

Run following the command to install Snap and IntelliJ IDEA packages:
