In this tutorial, we will show you how to install and configuration of Deluge on your CentOS 7. For those of you who didn’t know, Deluge is a popular multi-platform BitTorrent client often used to provide torrenting / seedbox functionality on Linux servers. Like rTorrent, deluge uses libtorrent as its backend. Supported by the daemon-service, awesome interface, and great plugin support, Deluge surpasses Transmission and rTorrent for functionality.
This article assumes you have at least basic knowledge of Linux, know how to use the shell, and most importantly, you host your site on your own VPS. The installation is quite simple and assumes you are running in the root account, if not you may need to add ‘
sudo‘ to the commands to get root privileges. I will show you through the step-by-step installation Deluge on a CentOS 7 server.
Install Deluge on CentOS 7
Step 1. First, you need to enable EPEL and Nux repository on your system.
wget http://li.nux.ro/download/nux/dextop/el7/x86_64/nux-dextop-release-0-5.el7.nux.noarch.rpm rpm -ivh nux-dextop-release-0-5.el7.nux.noarch.rpm wget http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/x86_64/e/epel-release-7-6.noarch.rpm rpm -ivh epel-release-7-6.noarch.rpm
Step 2. Installing Deluge.
Now we can install deluge and all necessities with Yum:
yum -y install deluge-web
Once complete, you can verify Deluge is installed by running the below command:
systemctl start deluge-web systemctl enable deluged-web systemctl status deluge-web
Step 3. Accessing Deluge.
Deluge will be available on HTTP port 8112 by default. Open your favorite browser and navigate to
http://server-ip-address:8112. The default password for deluge is a deluge, better change it when you are first to login. If you are using a firewall, please open port 8112 to enable access to the control panel.
sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=8112/tcp sudo firewall-cmd --reload
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Deluge. Thanks for using this tutorial for installing the Deluge BitTorrent client on your CentOS 7 system. For additional help or useful information, we recommend you to check the official Deluge website.
