Step 1. Before running the tutorial below, it’s important to make sure your system is up to date by running the following
apt commands in the terminal:
sudo apt update sudo apt install wget build-essential software-properties-common
Step 2. Installing Python 3.9 on Linux Mint 20.
The latest packages of Python for Linux Mint are available in
deadsnakes PPA repository. Now we add the repository to our system by running the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:deadsnakes/ppa
Once the repository is added start installation of Python 3.9 on Linux Mint:
sudo apt update sudo apt install python3.9
At this step, you have successfully installed Python 3.9 on Linux Mint 20. Now we confirm the Python version using the following command below:
$ python3 -V Python 3.9.0+
