In this tutorial, we will show you how to install Microsoft Teams on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. For those of you who didn’t know, Microsoft Teams is a communication platform used for Chat, Calling, Meetings, and Collaboration. Generally, it is used by companies and individuals working on projects. It was initially released in 2017, and in December 2019, Microsoft introduced it for the Linux Operating system users. This article assumes you have at least basic knowledge of Linux, know how to use the shell, and most importantly, you host your site on your own VPS. The installation is quite simple and assumes you are running in the root account, if not you may need to add ‘
sudo‘ to the commands to get root privileges. I will show you through the step-by-step installation of the Microsoft Teams on Ubuntu 20.04 (Focal Fossa). You can follow the same instructions for Ubuntu 18.04, 16.04, and any other Debian-based distribution like Linux Mint.

Step 1. First, make sure that all your system packages are up-to-date by running the following

Now we open a browser and point it to the official Teams download page. Click on either the
wget -O teams.deb https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/ms-teams/pool/main/t/teams/teams_1.4.00.4855_amd64.deb

.deb file. Run the following commands below:
sudo apt install ./teams.deb
