How To Install Vivaldi Browser on Linux Mint 21

Install Vivaldi Browser on Linux Mint 21

In this tutorial, we will show you how to install Vivaldi Browser on Linux Mint 21. For those of you who didn’t know, Vivaldi is a unique web browser designed specifically for power users. It provides a very high level of control and flexibility to its users and also offers a host of features that are not available in other browsers, including an advanced tab management system, built-in note-taking capabilities, and a customizable interface. Vivaldi is available for all major platforms like Windows, macOS, and Linux

This article assumes you have at least basic knowledge of Linux, know how to use the shell, and most importantly, you host your site on your own VPS. The installation is quite simple and assumes you are running in the root account, if not you may need to add ‘sudo‘ to the commands to get root privileges. I will show you the step-by-step installation of a Vivaldi Browser on Linux Mint 21 (Vanessa).

Prerequisites

  • A server running one of the following operating systems: Linux Mint 21 (Vanessa).
  • It’s recommended that you use a fresh OS install to prevent any potential issues.
  • SSH access to the server (or just open Terminal if you’re on a desktop).
  • A non-root sudo user or access to the root user. We recommend acting as a non-root sudo user, however, as you can harm your system if you’re not careful when acting as the root.

Step 1. Before you begin the installation process, make sure your Linux Mint 21 system is up-to-date. Open a terminal and run the following commands to update your system:

Step 2. Installing Vivaldi Browser on Linux Mint 21.

To install Vivaldi Browser, you need to add the Vivaldi repository to your system. Open a terminal and run the following command:

echo deb [arch=amd64,armhf signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/vivaldi.gpg] https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/deb/ stable main | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/vivaldi.list

Next, you need to import the Vivaldi GPG key to ensure the authenticity of the packages. Run the following command:

curl -fsSL https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/linux_signing_key.pub | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /usr/share/keyrings/vivaldi.gpg > /dev/null

Now start by updating the packages list and install Vivaldi Browser stable by using the command below:
